With the mixture of nationalities and the combined years of experience and skills both within tourism and the research community, Stunning Slovakia believes that it can deliver its goal of funding long term and beneficial research.

 

David Guthrie

Stunning Slovakia was the idea of David, who visited and fell in love with the region in 2006.  David has spent the last 17 years working as a safari operator in Tanzania, where his company A Tent With A View has become a leading light in responsible, wildlife-oriented tourism.  Having discovered what a wonderful safari opportunity Slovakia could offer, David is determined to encourage a new and sensitive wildlife tourism which we hope will become a model for the rest of Europe.

 

 

Dr Miroslav Saniga

Dr. Miroslav Saniga is a well-known naturalist within Slovakia. He has carried out a number of high profile projects regarding biodiversity and conservation. Most of this work has involved investigating the relationships between birds and the forest environment. Dr. Saniga has written over 60 scientific papers, however it is also his eagerness to connect with the non-scientific community that is important. In addition to the 16 books and over 1600 articles written aimed at adults he has also written 9 books specifically aimed at children - all of these encourage the appreciation of the natural world. When not writing or drawing Miroslav can be found looking for and researching one of his favourite birds, the Wallcreeper.

 

Graham Bishop

Graham has worked in the tourism industry for over a decade. Beginning as a tour leader in Peru and Bolivia, he had a stint in management consultancy before returning to tour operation. He has worked for two UK-based companies mainly in the product and operations departments. He is an avid birdwatcher and also has a keen interest in the natural world in general. Tourism that is fair and responsible to people and the environment is something that is particularly important to him.

 

 

 

Tom Frazier

Tom is our oracle.  He is a founder member of A Tent With A View, a sponsor of Stunning Slovakia Bear Watch, and an invaluable contributor to many wildlife research projects in Africa and throughout the world.  Tom blinds us with science at every opportunity and is, of course heavily involved in the decision-making for all technical aspects of the bear collaring programme.  His braces are legendary!
